Hikkaduwa Lake is a scenic natural attraction known for its tranquil waters and lush surroundings. The lake offers an escape from the bustling beaches nearby. It offers birdwatching, leisurely walks and an opportunity to unwind by the water’s edge.

The best time to visit Hikkaduwa Lake is during the dry season, which runs from late November to April. During these months, skies are clear with minimal rainfall, scenery is vibrant and the temperatures is between 27-31°C/80-88°F, the lake’s water level is ideal for boat rides and wildlife spotting, and the surroundings are at their most photogenic after the dry season. The best time of the day early morning (around 6:00–9:00 AM) or late afternoon (after 4:00 PM).

We went by Tuk-Tuk from the Exotica Bungalow to the lakeside and took an open motor boat from River Safari to the lake. We sailed pass lakeside luxury villas, small cafes and bars and prawn nets.
